Our History

Washington Bible Fellowship held its first Sunday morning service on September 5, 1999 in what is now the Photojournalism Museum. That service was the culmination of two years of planning. Washington Bible Fellowship was a church that was sent out from Christ the King Church in Webster Groves. Our pastor, Michael Ayres, and his family relocated to Washington in 1998 and we started having meetings in homes. One family from Christ the King already lived in Washington. Four other families, besides the pastor’s, moved to Washington within the same year.

In the fall of 2007 we as a congregation voted to change our name to Reign of Grace Church. The name change was to draw attention to the fact that we are a church and we are not limited to Washington only. Reign of Grace Church also reflects more of the vision that God has placed on our heart for Franklin County.

We were sent out to help with the harvest in this area not to replace or usurp any existing church or ministry. There are over 16,000 people in the city of Washington alone, but not nearly that many know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We want to work with other Christians to reach the lost no matter where they gather on Sunday morning. The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.

We have many opportunities to minister in the last eleven years. We pray that the Lord will continue to use us in the years to come.
